Publications - Ilex Series

Ilex Series  Proposal Questionnaire  Manuscript Guidelines (PDF)

The Ilex Foundation wishes to announce the inauguration of a new publications series, the Ilex Series. The purpose of the series is to promote research and scholarship in the humanistic traditions of the Mediterranean and Near East, and to share such research with a wide audience. The Ilex Series will include monographs, proceedings from conferences sponsored by Ilex, and collaborative projects. Authors wishing to submit proposals for the Ilex Series should complete the Proposal Questionnaire, and send it to the Ilex Foundation Editorial Board Liaison, Niloo Fotouhi (nf@ilexfoundation.org). Authors should be aware that only a small number of manuscripts are published each year by the Ilex Foundation, and that all books published in the Ilex Series will be produced in electronic versions as well as in print.

The Ilex Foundation is firmly committed to the dissemination of research through the application of information technology, including electronic publication. Electronic publications are able to reach a wider audience than print publications; they can also be produced much more quickly and at lower cost than print publications. The Ilex Foundation welcomes proposals for web-based projects in any field related to the humanistic traditions of the Mediterranean and Near East, and particularly seeks to promote projects that are interdisciplinary, innovative, or collaborative, and from younger scholars. Proposals for electronic publications, as for all publications, should be sent to the Editorial Board Liaison, Niloo Fotouhi (nf@ilexfoundation.org).

All submitted manuscripts are reviewed by the Ilex Foundation Editorial Board, and publication is subject to the Editorial Board’s approval. The Editorial Board assesses the quality of submitted manuscripts on the basis of the following criteria: coherence of the argument; coherence of the theme and contributions (for multi-contributor volumes); quality of scholarship and writing; and contribution to the appropriate field. Anonymous evaluations of manuscripts by unbiased experts with no personal or professional relationship to the author constitute a critical part of the Ilex Foundation’s editorial decision-making process.
