Associate Professor, Imam Sadeq University (formerly Harvard Business
School in Iran), Department of International Relations, 1996- present.
Teaching graduate and undergraduate courses on Central Asia, Middle
East, politics and economics of oil, and regional organizations.
Assistant Professor, National University of Iran (Shahid Beheshti),
Department of Political Science, 1994-96. Taught courses and seminars
on Central Asia and the Caucasus (problems in Central Asia and the Caucasus,
government and politics in Central Asia), the Middle East (Middle Eastern
government and politics, international relations of the Middle East,
superpowers in the Middle East, etc.), and history of government in
Islamic societies.
Lecturer, University of Tehran, Department of International Relations,
1993-94. Taught courses on history of Iran’s foreign relations
and graduate seminars on the Middle East.
Lecturer, School of International Relations, Tehran, 1992- 1997. Taught
courses and graduate seminars on history of Iran’s foreign relations,
Middle Eastern and Central Asian studies.
Lecturer, Azad University, Department of Political Science, 1996-97
Spring semester. Taught a graduate course on government and politics
in the Middle East.

1986-1992 University of California, Berkeley. Taught elementary and
intermediate Persian (fundamentals of Persian syntax and morphology,
grammar, selected readings in classical and modern Persian prose and
poetry). Applied the communicative method in teaching the Persian language
for the first time in Berkeley. Developed special teaching material
for Iranian born student of Persian at Berkeley. Taught elementary modern
standard Arabic, summer school 1990.
1975-76 State University of New York, Buffalo. Tutor of Persian at
the Department of Critical Languages.

On-going project; A Persian dictionary of sociological and philosophical
terms derived from Persian classical texts. 1993 - present.
Organized and chaired of the “Lecture Series on Iranian Historiography”
at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, Harvard University, Spring
semester 2001.
Organized the panel “Cultural Developments in Iran Since the
Islamic Revolution”, Middle Eastern Studies Association of America
and Canada (MESA) annual conference, Washington D.C., Nov 1999
Organized and chaired the colloquium "Iran and her Northern Neighbors”
at the School of Political Science and Islamic Studies, Imam Sadeq University,
Spring 1999.
Studied Iran’s political, cultural, and economic relations with
the newly independent states of Central Asia, potentials and obstacles
in developing bilateral and multilateral relations with those states.(1995-97)
Carried out a comprehensive on-sight study of art and culture in post-Soviet
Central Asia, 1993-94. The research included an in-depth look at the
institutions supporting art and culture, in the post-Soviet Central
Asian republics of Kazakhstan, Tajikestan, Gyrghyzstan, Turkmenistan,
and Uzbekistan.
Applied the communicative method in teaching Persian for the first
time in University of California in 1989-90 and developed special material
for Iranian born students of Persian who were raised abroad.
